It is our philosophy that through education and mentoring, we can encourage responsible breeding practices that result in healthier, happier dogs. Our love for French Bulldogs inspired us to develop a program that would preserve the breed standard, while reducing health risks and ensuring a healthier future for the breed.
Karen's Story: The Beginnings of Rock'n'Roll
In 1994, I bought my very first Frenchie - a cute little cream boy named Spanky. He was not a fancy show dog, but he quickly won my heart and convinced me that French Bulldog was the breed for me! For the next three years, I studied the breed standards, attended shows and seminars, and spent a lot of time talking with experienced breeders.
In 1997 I purchased my first show prospect - LeBull's Lil Bit O' Sunshine. Although she wasn't a hit in the show ring, I learned the art of handling with her, and she gave me the most precious gift - her daughter Ch.Rock'n Roll Devil In A Blue Dress, aka Monica.
Monica taught me about teamwork and conditioning, and was my first bred-by exhibitor winner at the 2000Canadian National Specialty under breeder judge John Peddy. She proved she still had all the right moves six years later, when breeder judge Alan Harper awarded her first place in her veteran's class at the Tennessee National Specialty.
In 1999, I started to develop another pedigree line, so that I could have two separate bloodlines of healthy, structurally sound dogs. I began this line with Ch.Sundarby's Hooligan's Holiday, CGC, aka Hooligan, a nice cream dog with a good pedigree. Hooligan's grandson, Ch. Rock'n Roll EC Show Me the Money, aka Cruiser, was our second Specialty bred-by exhibitor winner, taking first place out of a huge bred-by dog class at the Texas Independent Specialty under esteemed judge Wayne Brower.
In 2005, the two bloodlines were crossed when I bred Cruiser to Monica. The result was Ch.Rock'n Roll's Mercedes Benz, the #2 bitch in the country and Award of Merit winner at Westminster in 2007 under judge Robert McGivern.
Cruiser also sired my next Bred-by exhibitor National Specialty winner in 2009 under breeder judge Patti Sosa, Rock'n Roll's Somebody Loves Me, aka Boss. That year was especially thrilling - my friend Sherry Magera won bred-by exhibitor dog, best bred-by exhibitor and reserve winner's dog at the Independent Specialty with Ch. O's n X's Funk Soul Brother, whose dam and great grandsire are both Rock'n Roll dogs. During those specialty shows, eleven dogs out of my breeding - either children or grandchildren - achieved class placements, CGC's and/or rally titles.
Rock'n Roll isn't just a pretty face! We have multiple obedience titled dogs out there too - Ch. Justabull's Kiss Me Quick, AX MXJ, a Monica daughter, was the #1 French Bulldog bitch in agility in 2005. Currently, Carrie Solomon of Maryland competes very successfully in obedience and rally with Rock'n Roll dogs!
In 2010, the tradition continued with Ch. Rock'n Roll's I Am Legend, aka Carlos, winning the bred-by exhibitor dog class at the National Specialty under breeder judge Virginia Rowland.
Since that first litter, Rock'nRoll has produced over 35 champions, most of them owner handled. All of these wins would be meaningless without the superb health and wonderful temperaments that our dogs embody.
